A lodestone is a rock that has become magnetized out in nature.

Serious as a heart attack, and just as sudden,
Like magnets attract when they get oh so close together,
You watch as closely as you like, but you'll never pinpoint
The moment when the stick, one to the other.

Magnetic fields are invisible to the eye,
And you can't see it, but it's happening all the time
It's why the earth revolves around the sun.
It's how the moon affects the tides.

Across the room now, and I couldn't say how.
My feet didn't move, but I, I'm standing right here.
Other people are in their own orbits around us.
Little waves of current are humming in my ears.

You wouldn't know it unless there were two.
